「形而上者謂之道，形而下者謂之器。」在東方的藝術形式中有許多話語在無聲的場域中不斷呢喃，這些象徵與譬喻的本體都棲居在有形象的事物中，林郁珮認為東方感的藝術表達，給人一種距離與淡然的氛圍。她覺得與其使故事清晰，在一幀畫裡更需要的是「再詮釋」，畫出自己內心幽微之事，再將它們如故事般展示眾人。她認為「再詮釋」能使故事用更多的型態在不同觀者心中得到新的生命蔓延，人所存在的過程中，不論何種的原因，儘管避談確切的事件，本體通過主客辯證的過程，心靈必然向上提升，朝整體的文化或是生命的整體核心靠近，終能覓得一處得以安棲。
